Roger Schutt, M.D.

Dr. Roger Schutt graduated from UMASS Amherst in June 1980, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology. He is a 1986 graduate of the University Of New England College Of Osteopathic Medicine Dr. Schutt is Board Certified in Family Practice and Geriatrics.

Since shortly after finishing his internship and residency, Dr. Schutt has had a sincere and active interest in the medical care of the aging population. He began as an attending physician at a few small nursing homes in the state and his practice has grown, such that he now is medical director in nursing homes. Dr. Schutt is a member of the American Medical Directors Association, The American Osteopathic Association, and the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Schutt serves on the board of Trustees for the Kindred Health Care.

Dr. Schutt is developing an interest in palliative care and continues to explore and works to improve the quality of medical care to the terminally ill patient.

Dr Schutt has been a medical director for the Bostonian Nursing Home for 12 Years. This has been a successful partnership that has led to many rewarding experiences for Dr. Schutt.

Deborah O'Keefe MD

Dr. Deborah O’Keefe graduated from New York Medical College in 1975. Dr. O’Keefe continued her training in internal medicine at Norwalk Hospital, a Yale University School of Medicine affiliate. Dr. O’Keefe is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.

 

Dr. O’Keefe came to the Boston area to practice medicine in a health care system that emphasized caring for the health of the patient as well as the community. She joined the staff of Carney Hospital and worked in many of the health centers in Dorchester, which were affiliated with the hospital. Her current practice is based at Caritas Carney Hospital.

 

Dr. O’Keefe is an associate clinical professor at Tufts Medical School, and values her role as a teacher, sharing with students and physicians in training her interest in patient centered care and geriatrics. Improving the quality of health of seniors, and working to maintain their ability to function and achieve as much independence in self-care as possible has led to her following her patients from hospital to sub acute area settings to home. Dr. O’Keefe is looking forward to playing an active role in the care of patients at the Bostonian.
